Background of the project:
22% of all women have suffered from forms of violence that have effected their health (Carol Hagemann-White, 2003; following surveys from NL and SE)
In Germany one out of three women has experienced physical violence and one out of seven women has experienced sexual violence during their adult life (BFSFJ, 2004)
Violence often is underestimated as a background for symptoms
Lack of qualification
Gaps in the psychological attendance of traumatised women
The consequences for women traumatised by experiences of violence: a burdening journey within the health system, chronification
Goals of the project:
Sensitizing: the experience of violence can be one possible background of psycho-reactive symptoms
Improving the knowledge about complex PTSD
Improving the expertise for counseling of clients with experiences of violence
Improving the local health system
Creating a regional/national network of all existing support offers
Creating an European Network “PTSD” under the roof of WAVE
Workshops:
Target group: social workers, staff members in psychosocial institutions, nurses, medical doctors, police, advocates.....

How can I recognize a PTSD? (Symptoms)
Who is affected? (Risk groups)
Physiological reactions
Trauma therapy
What helps ? (Stabilization and Empowerment)
Who helps? (counselling and referral)

10 training workshops in each country
